Those going through menopause may want some options to help them deal with
it. There is no treatment for menopause itself but there are treatment options for the symptoms associated with menopause which is usually the main problem for most women to begin with. Some of the options are listed below.

Hormone Therapy
A lot of the symptoms of menopause are caused by hormonal imbalance. This is why a lot of women opt for hormone therapy. Hormone therapy tends to relieve some of the symptoms of menopause. One example of hormone therapy is taking estrogen to improve estrogen levels. However, hormone therapy does comes with risks so it should be discussed with your doctor if this is an option you are interested in.

Medications
There are many different types of medications that you can take – both prescribed and over the counter that may help you deal with menopausal symptoms. Low dose anti-depressants, Clonidine, and Gabapentin are some medications used to relieve hot flashes. Low dose birth control pills may also reduce hot flashes and can also help with vaginal dryness and mood swings. These are just a couple of examples of medications that may help.

Home Treatment
There are things that you can do at home that can help relieve your symptoms of menopause. Most of these things involve making changes to your lifestyle while others are just things you can do to treat some of the menopause symptoms. Here are some of the home treatment options for certain symptoms associated with menopause.

Hot Flushes
Some of the things that help treat and prevent hot flashes includes knowing what could be triggering your hot flashes and avoiding those triggers, dressing in layers of clothing and removing them when a flash is starting to take place, using a fan or some sort of cooling device, and taking deep breathes slowly.

Difficulty with Sleeping
A good way to help you sleep better is to exercise throughout the day or at least keep yourself active. You should also try to avoid big meals, alcohol consumption, and a lot of activity prior to going to bed. Try not to consume caffeine after noon. Your bedroom should also have a relaxing feel to it meaning it could be quiet, dark, and cool. If hot flashes are responsible for difficulty sleeping, treating the hot flashes should help you sleep better.

Preventing Mood Swings
To help fight mood swings, you should make sure to get plenty of rest and stay active during the day. This will help you feel much better. You should try to avoid doing too much. This could mean work, cleaning, or anything that might increase your burden or stress. You also have the option of talking with a doctor to seek more solutions.

Vaginal Dryness Lubricants
For vaginal dryness, you can use water based lubricants which you can find over the counter.

Just because you go through menopause and experience unpleasant symptoms doesn’t mean that you have to continue living with them. There are menopause treatment options that can help you live a better life without dealing with symptoms.
